The Daughters of the Sacred Heart (DSH) are religious sisters serving communities in the Philippines. Help develop two proposed centers for children, mothers, students and young people.
The Daughters of the Sacred Heart Philippines are seeking partners for two proposed projects: the Manila Community Empowerment Center in Quezon City and the Bataan Retreat & Sustainability Center near Mount Samat.
Who are the proposed projects intended to serve?
The Manila proposal includes daycare for 30 children, training for 15 mothers per quarter (60 per year), and lodging for 15 college students. Bataan plans youth recreation for 150–200 young people per month, retreat facilities and an 800 m² organic garden. These are planned targets, not achieved results.
What is the total proposed funding budget?
The total proposed budget is €3,730,757. It includes Manila infrastructure (€1,469,000), furnishings (€220,108), three-year staffing (€194,029), the Bataan center (€1,361,000), and administration and contingencies (€486,620). Secured funding and the remaining gap require confirmation.

OUR COMMUNITY
Many cultures. One shared calling.
Time together, shared experiences.
Community life brings us together through prayer, everyday companionship and service. Each sister brings her own culture, personality and gifts.
In these personal reflections, four sisters share how life together has deepened their experience of God’s love and their calling to bring that love to others.

Love made visible in daily service.
The sisters’ mission in the Philippines is lived through relationships: being present, listening and responding to the needs of people around them. Their own photographs show this service in homes, learning spaces and community gatherings.

Learning and personal encouragement
Sharing knowledge, listening to questions and encouraging young people are part of a mission centred on the dignity of each person. Learning is also a priority of the proposed Manila center, with daycare and a safe home for college students.

Visiting the sick and older people
A visit brings companionship and attention to people who may find it difficult to participate in community life. The photographs show the sisters meeting people in their homes, offering a caring presence and practical assistance.

Practical solidarity with families
Being close to families also means responding to everyday needs. The supplied photographs show sisters alongside adults and children with practical supplies. Such encounters connect material help with respect, conversation and human dignity.

Accompanying young people
Shared activities and community gatherings create opportunities to listen, build relationships and explore values together. The proposed Bataan center would develop dedicated spaces for youth recreation, reflection and formation.
From daily service to the next chapter
The proposed centers build on this mission. Daycare, livelihood training for mothers, student accommodation and Bataan retreat facilities are planned project activities; these photographs do not establish that the new centers are already operating.
For the Daughters of the Sacred Heart, prayer and service belong together. The sisters’ reflections describe community life as a daily invitation to love, serve and recognise Christ in one another. Their faith gives meaning to the care they share with others.

Eucharist and shared celebrations
Gathering around the Eucharist expresses the sisters’ life together in Christ. Liturgical celebrations bring sisters and the wider church community together in thanksgiving, prayer and fellowship.

Community prayer and reflection
Prayer together, personal reflection and attention to God’s presence sustain the sisters’ vocation. The chapel is a place to bring the joys and difficulties of community life and the needs of the people they encounter.

The spirituality of the Sacred Heart
The congregation’s charism centres on contemplating and sharing the love of Christ’s Sacred Heart. Devotion, intercession and a life of service give this spirituality a concrete expression in the sisters’ everyday relationships.
“It is a constant act of trust – placing my gifts, my talents and even my challenges at the service of others.”
“I have discovered in community life a profound truth: I am deeply loved – and called to pour out that same Christ-like love to the world.”

“Community life has been a daily invitation to love, to serve, and to surrender my will. It is a constant act of trust – placing my gifts, my talents and even my challenges at the service of others. In this surrender, I have found deeper joy, lasting peace, and a more intimate experience of God, while continually discovering who I truly am in Him.”

“Community life is a beautiful and enriching journey. Living with sisters of different nationalities has allowed me to glimpse the vastness of God’s love expressed through diverse cultures and personalities. By God’s grace, and through the embrace of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, I am strengthened each day to recognize Christ in my sisters and to live with all in genuine love.”
